S A R U

I guess I haven't posted too much on them here, but one of my favourite new bands is ORdER. They're a band from Toyota that doesn't do too much in Tokyo but is pretty active in the Nagoya/Osaka scene. Every now and then they come up to Tokyo and I just think they're amazing. Their stuff is on the lighter side of hardcore, and hardcore with a definite ???! mark, very melodic, very post-Stooges with some really cool 50's rock beats thrown in.

S A R U was their first 7inch release in a few years, and I picked it up down at Punk And Destroy in Osaka when it came out. SARU has two songs, the fairly sludgey Shirokuro, which is of a very traditional nature for the band, with some nice slick guitar riffs and a bit of a hardcore breakdown in the middle, and then Zero, a very cool fast dance-y track. I'd still recommend their album, Taep O'Dong, for a first timer.

I second this. Great band. I wish they'd find their way up to Tokyo more often.
